The National Office of Food Safety (ONSSA) announced today, Saturday, that the Eid al-Adha celebration was conducted under satisfactory health conditions. In an official statement, the office indicated that the operational plan implemented for this year's Eid al-Adha, along with the exceptional mobilization of veterinary services and laboratories during the holiday period, contributed to ensuring a healthy environment during this festive occasion. This success was achieved thanks to the collaboration and engagement of various partners, including local authorities, consumer protection associations, professionals, butchers, veterinarians, and technicians.
During the Eid period, ONSSA mobilized its human resources by deploying 500 veterinarians and technicians on duty throughout the days of the celebration. The statement highlighted that veterinary services inspected over 3,750 sacrificial animals across all regions of the country. Additionally, visits were made to 350 households to respond to citizens' requests for direct inspections and to provide the necessary guidance regarding the health safety of sacrificial meat.
In parallel, the office responded to more than 2,000 calls through telephone and social media platforms to address citizens' inquiries continuously. This was in conjunction with regular monitoring and inspection operations at authorized slaughterhouses and butcher shops to ensure that the meat and offal met health standards. The same source emphasized that the National Office of Food Safety is committed to adopting a close approach, consistently listening to citizens through all its services.
