Morocco Extradites Key Drug Traffickers to Sweden
In a significant development in the fight against drug trafficking, Morocco has extradited two Swedish nationals to Sweden due to their suspected involvement in large-scale drug smuggling operations. This extradition comes as a result of a new agreement between the Moroccan police and the Swedish authorities, which aims to enhance cooperation in tackling serious crimes.
According to Younes Himar, the Deputy Head of the International Unit at the National Operations Department of the Swedish police, several Swedish citizens involved in serious criminal activities have been handed over by Morocco in a short period. He emphasized the positive aspect of being able to bring two individuals, believed to have a significant impact on drug-related crimes in Sweden, to trial.
One of the extradited men, aged 28, is suspected of leading a wholesale drug trafficking network that allegedly supplied drugs to criminal gangs in Sweden and other Nordic countries. Meanwhile, the second individual, 42 years old, held a leadership position in a criminal organization accused of smuggling large quantities of cannabis into Sweden. Authorities plan to request their detention for further investigation upon their arrival in Sweden.
This extradition is part of a broader initiative to strengthen law enforcement collaboration between Morocco and Sweden, aimed at addressing the growing issues of drug trafficking and organized crime.
