Fes-Meknes Region Approves a Suite of New Projects
In a recent ordinary session held in October, the Fes-Meknes Regional Council approved a comprehensive array of projects and agreements aimed at enhancing various sectors including industry, traditional crafts, infrastructure, sports, water management, and flood protection. A significant decision made by the council was the establishment of the "Fes Industrial Development" company, which will manage and market industrial zones within the region. This initiative includes notable areas such as Ain Beida in Fes, Ain Chkak in Sefrou, and Wislane in Meknes, alongside the development of six new industrial zones.
Additionally, in the traditional crafts sector, the council allocated 6 million dirhams to fund the second phase of the Traditional Crafts Complex in Sefrou, which has a total cost of 14.4 million dirhams. Furthermore, a commitment of 20 million dirhams was made to establish a hub for traditional craft activities in the Taza province. The council also approved a project aimed at protecting the city of Taza from flooding, with an estimated total cost of 50 million dirhams, contributing 10 million dirhams from the regional budget. Alongside these developments, an amendment to the Conference Palace project in Fes was ratified, where the construction is currently at a 95% completion rate.
In the sports sector, the council has decided to allocate a financial support of 10 million dirhams to the Fes Sports Association football club. Other endorsed projects include the provision of an ambulance for Imouzzer Kandar and the supply of potable water to several rural areas in the Sefrou and Ifrane provinces. These initiatives reflect the council's commitment to improving the living standards and infrastructure of the Fes-Meknes region, thus fostering economic growth and community well-being.
