Installation of the Provisional Commission in Rabat
On Friday, July 24, 2026, the members of the Provisional Commission responsible for executing the missions of the National Press Council (CNP) were officially installed in Rabat, as announced by the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication - Communication Department. This Commission, established under Article 96 of Law No. 09.26 regarding the reorganization of the CNP, will temporarily carry out the functions of the Council, including the preparation and organization of elections for professional journalist representatives and the appointment of newspaper publisher representatives, along with the announcement of their final results.
The installation of the Provisional Commission was overseen by Abdelaziz El Boujdaini, the Secretary General of the Communication Department. The Commission is composed of several key figures: Hassan Jabir, a judge and representative of the Higher Council of the Judicial Power (CSPJ), who serves as the Commission's president; Abdelghani Bardi, representing the National Human Rights Council (CNDH); Mohamed Benkaddour, representing the Economic, Social, and Environmental Council (CESE); Abderrahim Ariri, designated by the Head of Government as the representative of newspaper publishers; and Yassine Omari, also appointed by the Head of Government as the representative of professional journalists.
The inaugural meeting of the Commission is scheduled for Monday, July 27, 2026, adhering to the legal deadline of ten days from the publication date of the aforementioned law in the official bulletin.
