Upcoming Modern Vehicle Impound Facility in Marrakech
The city of Marrakech is set to enhance its infrastructure with the establishment of a new collective impound facility for cars and motorcycles, as part of the local government's operational plan for the period of 2023-2028. This initiative was highlighted in the fifteenth interim report of the municipality's action plan, revealing significant progress in urban development.
The main objective of this project is to improve the management of impounded vehicles and streamline the processes associated with traffic violations. By creating a dedicated space, the facility aims to address the growing needs in this sector, ensuring better organization and accessibility for both vehicles and their owners.
According to the information provided in the report, the new impound facility will cover an area of approximately two hectares, with a capacity to accommodate around 520 cars and 160 motorcycles. This design will allow for the consolidation of all impounded vehicles within a well-equipped and organized environment, enhancing operational efficiency.
Notably, the design of the facility extends beyond mere parking spaces; it includes several essential amenities and features. Among these are platforms for parking impounded vehicles, a main entrance linked to the facility's administration, a dedicated washing area for vehicles, closed storage spaces, waste disposal areas, and technical facilities. Such comprehensive planning underscores the municipality's commitment to creating a functional and user-friendly environment.
The architectural design of the administrative building is tailored to reflect the unique urban character of Marrakech, incorporating color palettes inspired by the local architectural style, particularly the traditional Moroccan red and beige, complemented by modern concrete elements. This thoughtful integration of aesthetics and functionality aims to enhance the overall urban landscape.
In terms of project advancement, the municipality has confirmed that the contract for the construction works has been awarded, indicating that the preparatory studies and procedures have been successfully completed. However, the details regarding the contractor, total costs, and the timeframe for project completion have not yet been disclosed.
