15 New Primary Healthcare Centers Launch Across Six Regions in Morocco
On Tuesday, September 8, 2026, a total of 15 new primary healthcare facilities commenced operations across six regions in Morocco. This development follows the completion of their rehabilitation and equipping, as part of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection's ongoing efforts to enhance healthcare services and bring medical assistance closer to citizens. According to a statement from the Ministry, this initiative aligns with royal directives aimed at reforming and rehabilitating the national healthcare system, alongside the continued implementation of a national program to upgrade 1,600 primary healthcare centers, which includes 500 facilities set to be operational by the end of 2026.
Targeted Regions and Beneficiaries
The new healthcare institutions are strategically located in the regions of Beni Mellal-Khenifra, Marrakech-Safi, the East, Casablanca-Settat, Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima, and Guelmim-Oued Noun. This initiative is designed to bolster access to essential health services and support the broader social protection scheme. Among the beneficiaries, the Beni Mellal-Khenifra region stands out, receiving four new primary healthcare centers distributed between the Azilal and Khenifra provinces. These include three health posts in Azilal—Kimi, Bouhrazan, and Ait Ouarir—alongside the Sidi Bouabid health post in Khenifra.
In the Marrakech-Safi region, five new institutions have been launched in the Chichaoua province, including a level two urban health center in Imintanoute, a level two rural health center in Edouiran, a level one rural health center in Mazouda, and two rural health posts in Bouzouka and Laadailat. The East region has also seen an enhancement in its healthcare offerings with three new facilities, which consist of a level one rural health center in Ouled Saleh and a rural health post in Souihla within the Jerada province, as well as a level one urban health center in Al Quds located in the Berkane province. In Casablanca-Settat, a level one urban health center in Dar Bouazza, located in the Nouaceur province, has also begun operations, while the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region has welcomed a level two rural health center in Beni Jmel Mksoulin in the Al Hoceima province.
Additionally, the Guelmim-Oued Noun region has introduced a center for tuberculosis and respiratory disease diagnostics in Klemim, aimed at enhancing early detection and diagnosis of tuberculosis, ensuring patient care, and monitoring treatment effectiveness. This facility will also work on improving diagnostic capabilities and the continuity of patient care.
These new healthcare centers are expected to significantly improve access to medical services for a target population exceeding 375,677 individuals, while also addressing the rising demand for healthcare and enhancing the reception and guidance conditions for citizens. The Ministry of Health and Social Protection has equipped these centers with biomedical equipment and mobilized 50 healthcare professionals to deliver medical and nursing services. The services provided encompass general medical examinations, nursing treatments, chronic disease management—particularly for diabetes and hypertension—as well as maternal and child health, school health, health education and awareness, epidemiological vigilance, and mobile health services.
