In a significant gathering held in Fez, Nizar Baraka, the Secretary-General of the Istiqlal Party, addressed a crowd of thousands of party members and supporters, including key leaders and candidates from both southern and northern Fez as well as the Moulay Yacoub region and the broader Fez-Meknes area. This event, which took place in the heart of the city, underscored the deep-rooted presence of the Istiqlal Party in Fez, a city that has played a pivotal role in Morocco's national movement.
Baraka took the opportunity to commend the resilience and loyalty of Istiqlal members in Fez since 2021, emphasizing that the city’s historical legacy—from the era of Allal Al Fassi to the present—compels the party to embark on a new battle against poverty, precarious living conditions, and challenges related to housing, education, and healthcare.
In response to the rising cost of living, Baraka proposed innovative solutions such as creating distribution companies that directly source products from farmers, enabling them to sell at reasonable prices while also regulating exports to protect the national market. He called for a reassessment of the direct social support index to ensure family stability and advocated for a comprehensive program to support families, empowering women and youth through digital marketing training with the goal of breaking the cycle of poverty within five years.
On the topic of Fez, Baraka stressed the importance of restoring investor confidence and creating job opportunities while capitalizing on infrastructure projects and the upcoming World Cup. He urged that "artificial intelligence and digitization" should become new focal points for the city, alongside agriculture, handicrafts, and tourism.
Concluding his address, Baraka highlighted the need to protect families through a regional family mediation program and support for young couples preparing for marriage. He affirmed, "From Fez, we declare: Our homeland is our future, and we are building our future within our nation."
