Challenges in Performing 'Casablanca' Together
Singer Nuha Bahrin has recently shared insights into the reasons why she and her former duet partner, Naufal Azrin, are unable to perform their popular track ‘Casablanca’ together at live events. At just 26 years old, Nuha explained that the primary obstacle lies in their commitments to different record labels. This situation has made it quite challenging for the duo to reunite on stage, despite the enthusiastic demand from fans who fondly remember the chemistry that brought the song to life. "Now that we are signed to different record labels, it may be quite difficult for us to perform ‘Casablanca’ together for the time being," she remarked, acknowledging the bittersweet nature of their current circumstances.
Nuha noted that both she and Naufal have been adapting to the changes, each performing ‘Casablanca’ as solo acts. "Whatever the circumstances, I’m very proud of him," she stated, emphasizing the mutual respect that continues to exist between them. The singer expressed her hopes for future collaborations, reiterating her willingness to work with Naufal again if the opportunity presents itself. "I’m always open to collaborating with Naufal again if the opportunity arises. At the moment, however, it may be challenging for us to perform the song together due to various factors involving our respective record labels," she explained.
Maintaining a Strong Friendship
In light of recent rumors surrounding Naufal's marriage, Nuha was quick to dismiss any speculation suggesting that this new chapter in his life has hindered their ability to perform together. The singer clarified that their relationship remains strong and friendly, emphasizing that they see each other as family. "If people think it’s because he’s married now, that’s not the reason at all. His wife is a very kind and lovely person," she stated, reinforcing the notion that their friendship has always been platonic. They have known each other since the creation of ‘Casablanca’, and throughout their journey, they have maintained clear boundaries, respecting their roles as colleagues and duet partners. Nuha affirmed, "We’ve always respected those boundaries. He knows my family, and I know his. So, our relationship has become very much like family." Released in 2022, ‘Casablanca’ features a unique blend of Malay and Arabic lyrics, propelling both artists to fame and garnering them a dedicated fanbase not only in Malaysia but also in Indonesia and the Middle East.
