Important Update from the Ministry of Education
The Ministry of National Education, Primary Education, and Sports has officially announced to all parents, guardians, students, educational staff, and the general public that the school year 2026-2027 will commence as per the predetermined schedule outlined in Ministerial Decision No. 047.26, issued on July 3, 2026, concerning the organization of the academic year.
Key Dates for the Academic Year
In a recent statement, the ministry clarified that administrative and educational staff will report to their respective workplaces to sign the entry minutes on September 1, 2026. Subsequently, teachers and educational researchers are expected to join their institutions on September 2 to complete the same process. Furthermore, students enrolled in preschool, as well as those in the first and second grades of primary education, the first year of junior secondary education, and the common streams of senior secondary education, will begin their school year on September 3. Following this, students in the third and fourth grades of primary education, the second year of junior secondary education, and the first year of baccalaureate will start on September 4.
Additionally, students in the fifth and sixth grades of primary education, the third year of junior secondary education, and the second year of baccalaureate will commence their studies on September 5. The official and mandatory start date for all educational levels will be September 7. It is also important to note that classes for non-formal education and second chance programs will begin on October 5, 2026.
The ministry has reiterated its call for all educational stakeholders, administrators, families, and partners to mobilize collectively to ensure the success of this school year's commencement and to secure educational time and learning opportunities for all students across various educational institutions.
