ONDA Initiates Tenders Worth 394 Million Dirhams for New Airport Terminal

The National Airports Office (ONDA), the public institution responsible for Moroccan airport infrastructures, has officially announced the launch of three significant tenders on Friday, October 9. These tenders are aimed at enhancing the boarding equipment for aircraft, overseeing quality control during construction, and conducting topographical monitoring for the future Mohammed V Airport terminal in Casablanca. The total estimated value of these tenders is approximately 394.22 million dirhams.

The primary tender, referenced as 197/26/AOO/ONDA, amounts to 362.3 million dirhams, inclusive of all taxes. This tender focuses on the supply, installation, and commissioning of telescopic boarding bridges that connect aircraft to the boarding lounges. It also covers electrical converters necessary for ground power supply and guidance systems that help direct aircraft to their parking positions. Additionally, the contract includes maintenance services for these critical pieces of equipment.

Technical Oversight and Quality Assurance

The other two tenders pertain to technical supervision services for the construction site. ONDA has estimated the cost of quality control at 30 million dirhams, complemented by a 1.92 million dirham contract dedicated to topographical verifications. These estimates reflect the project owner's budget, with the final contract amounts to be determined following the tendering processes.

The main contract distinguishes between a firm tranche focusing on the acquisition and commissioning of installations and a conditional tranche reserved for maintenance services. By consolidating the provisions related to boarding bridges, converters, and guidance systems into a single procedure, ONDA aims to engage a contractor responsible for the technical coordination of these installations. The overall estimate encompasses both tranches, with their respective values to be confirmed later.

These installations are intended for parking positions adjacent to the terminal. The boarding bridges facilitate direct access for passengers to aircraft from the boarding lounges, while the converters provide the necessary electrical power for aircraft on the ground. The guidance systems ensure precise positioning of the planes. The successful installation of this equipment is essential for the operational use of these parking positions and for managing passenger flow during international connections.

Interested companies are required to submit their bids by November 24 at 10 a.m. and must provide a provisional security deposit of 5.4 million dirhams. An optional site visit is scheduled for October 27, allowing candidates to assess the equipment installation conditions and the technical constraints associated with the future terminal.

The second tender, referenced as 156/26/AOO/ONDA, involves testing, analysis, and verifications necessary for quality monitoring of the construction works. Candidates must demonstrate qualifications in various areas including geotechnical studies, control of metal structures, concrete works, earthworks, roadways, and ancillary installations. The deadline for submitting offers for this tender is set for November 19, requiring a provisional deposit of 450,000 dirhams.

The third consultation, referenced 157/26/AOO/ONDA, aims to secure topographical control services during the construction phase. This involves measurements, surveys, and verifications essential for the precise positioning of the works. Candidate companies have until November 3 to present their proposals, which must be accompanied by a provisional guarantee of 28,000 dirhams.

These new tenders join previously initiated contracts focused on the construction and equipping of the upcoming airport complex. ONDA had also published a tender on October 8 for the construction of a road interchange linking the terminal to provincial road RP3038, estimated at 113.05 million dirhams. These terrestrial access works are a distinct component of the airport program.

The new terminal represents, according to ONDA's presented program, a total investment estimated at 15 billion dirhams. Its completion is expected to provide an additional capacity of twenty million passengers annually, raising the total capacity of Mohammed V Airport to thirty-five million by 2029. Designed with an H-shaped architecture, the building is set to facilitate international connections and support the expansion of Royal Air Maroc's long-haul network, featuring amenities tailored for the efficient transfer of passengers and baggage across various routes.
