Open Portfolio-FIG Set to Enrich Casablanca's Art Scene
From September 4 to 6, 2026, Casablanca will host the second edition of Open Portfolio-FIG, an international event dedicated to emerging graphic arts, taking place at the Forum de la Culture – Espace Sacré Cœur. This event is organized by Casa Events et Animation in collaboration with the Instituto Cervantes de Casablanca and in partnership with notable organizations such as FIG Bilbao, Bassma Printmaking, and the École des Beaux-Arts de Casablanca. Celebrating Artistic Diversity and Innovation
This year's event saw an overwhelming response to its international call for participation, attracting over 100 applicants. Ultimately, 13 selected artists will showcase their works and portfolios, featuring various techniques including engraving, woodcut, silkscreen, lithography, and contemporary printing processes. The program is packed with engaging activities, including exhibitions, workshops, demonstrations, and conferences. The official opening is set for September 4 at 6 PM, which will feature demonstrations by renowned artists Caizhen Wang and Meryem Tafali, along with a unique performance by Veronica Arellano that combines drawing with Andalusian music.
On September 5, attendees can look forward to several workshops leading up to the presentation of the four FIG Bilbao 2026 awards. Two insightful conferences will delve into the role of engraving in artistic education and the concept of the artist's book. The final day, September 6, will conclude with demonstrations from Najlaa AlSaadi and Carmen Naranjo, wrapping up the event by 4 PM. Open Portfolio-FIG aims to enhance the visibility of emerging artists, facilitate knowledge transfer, and foster discussions around contemporary printmaking practices.
