Oracle Launches Cloud Region in Morocco to Boost AI Innovation

Oracle Expands Cloud Infrastructure in Morocco

Oracle has officially announced the opening of a new public cloud region located in Casablanca, Morocco, aimed at empowering local organizations to fully leverage Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) for accelerating innovation in artificial intelligence (AI) and enhancing business resilience. This initiative comes in response to the escalating demand for cloud services and AI solutions across the region. The Casablanca cloud region will serve businesses, startups, and public entities in Morocco by providing access to Oracle’s most advanced AI and cloud computing capabilities, including cutting-edge generative AI and multicloud functionalities. N+ONE Datacenters has been selected as the hosting partner for this significant cloud region.

As part of its distributed cloud strategy, Oracle is committed to supporting both public and private organizations in modernizing their applications and driving data-driven innovation, analytics, and artificial intelligence. This new cloud region will facilitate the migration of various workloads from on-premises environments to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure while ensuring data sovereignty by keeping data hosting and processing within national borders. This approach is critical in meeting sovereignty requirements and ensuring compliance with regulations governing public, governmental, and highly regulated sectors.

Cormac Watters, Executive Vice President and General Manager for EMEA at Oracle, emphasized the importance of this launch, stating, "The opening of our cloud region in Casablanca marks a significant milestone in our commitment to support Morocco's growth and its role as a regional hub for AI and digital innovation. With the Oracle Cloud Casablanca Region, we are providing organizations across Morocco and North Africa with the secure, high-performance infrastructure they need to innovate with AI and cloud technologies and remain competitive on a global scale."

Support for Morocco's Digital Strategy and Local Innovation

The establishment of the Oracle Cloud Casablanca region signifies a substantial expansion of Oracle’s AI infrastructure in Morocco. It aligns with the Moroccan government’s "Digital Morocco 2030" strategy and provides local stakeholders with access to Oracle’s latest AI solutions, such as the OCI AI Agent Platform, OCI Generative AI Service, and Oracle AI Data Platform. Moroccan startups and investors, part of one of North Africa's most dynamic communities, are expected to leverage this infrastructure for AI training and inference.

In addition to the Casablanca cloud region and its research and development center, Oracle plans to open a second public cloud region in Settat. On a continental scale, Oracle already operates a cloud region in Johannesburg, South Africa, and has announced the upcoming launch of a region in Nairobi, Kenya, marking one of the fastest expansions of a hyperscaler in Africa.

Oracle is uniquely positioned to assist African clients in meeting diverse requirements, whether for data privacy, sovereign AI, or low-latency needs. It stands as the only hyperscaler capable of offering over 200 cloud and AI services through public clouds, client data centers, hybrid/edge deployments, or multicloud environments. With more than 200 cloud regions in production and planned globally, clients can select the deployment model that best suits their business needs without compromising on performance, governance, or the OCI experience.
