Oracle's Strategic Investment in Souss-Massa
Oracle, a global leader in cloud and software solutions, is set to significantly boost the economy of the Souss-Massa region in Morocco by creating 200 direct jobs. This initiative follows the recent establishment of Oracle's research and development hub in Agadir, which was inaugurated just four months ago. As part of a quadripartite agreement involving the Souss-Massa Regional Council, the local government, and the Regional Investment Center (CRI), Oracle is committing to an overall investment of 20 million dirhams (MDH). In return, the region will provide a financial incentive of 1 MDH aimed at fostering job creation and sustainable investment. The agreement stipulates that the full disbursement of these funds is contingent on the successful creation of these jobs within the specified timeframe of 2026 to 2028.
Job Creation Timeline and Regional Support
The job creation plan is structured across three consecutive budgetary years, starting in 2026. Initially, Oracle will introduce 100 new positions, followed by an additional 40 in 2027 and 60 more in 2028. The regional support will focus on several key areas, including partial coverage of rental costs and office renovations for Oracle's facilities in Agadir, direct financial incentives for each job created, and support for skill development and technological innovation programs. This financial aid is designed to be progressive, disbursed in phases through the CRI of Souss-Massa, ensuring that the company’s expansion is closely monitored and aligned with regional economic goals.
In addition to the immediate financial commitment and the goal of reaching 200 employees by 2028, the involved parties are dedicated to maintaining Oracle's presence in the region for at least five years, which will further stabilize the local job market. The implementation of this agreement will be overseen by a Regional Monitoring and Evaluation Committee, comprising representatives from the Souss-Massa Wilaya, the CRI, the Regional Delegation for Trade and Industry, the ANAPEC agency, and the National Social Security Fund.
The establishment of this R&D hub complements Oracle's existing operations in Casablanca, enhancing the company’s capacity to innovate in crucial fields such as cloud infrastructure, AI-driven applications, and data solutions. This initiative not only opens up new career opportunities for Moroccan engineers, developers, and researchers but also positions Morocco as a key technological hub in Africa, the Middle East, and Europe. The collaborative network created by Oracle's multi-city innovation strategy will help accelerate the development of groundbreaking technologies, ultimately benefiting a wide range of clients.
