Extreme Heat Warning Across Morocco
The General Directorate of Meteorology has issued a warning indicating that several regions of Morocco will experience extremely high temperatures from Sunday, September 13, to Monday, September 14, 2026. The updated alert, released on Sunday morning, categorizes the heatwave and accompanying strong winds as an orange level of vigilance.
According to the meteorological report, temperatures are expected to soar between 40 and 44 degrees Celsius in regions including Fqih Ben Salah, Rahamna, Moulay Yacoub, Taza, Wazan, Fes, Khemisset, Sidi Bennour, Youssoufia, Beni Mellal, Assa-Zag, Azilal, Smara, Tata, Taroudant, Kenitra, Sidi Kacem, Sidi Slimane, Khouribga, Settat, Chichaoua, Qalaat Seraghna, and Marrakech. This heatwave is anticipated to last from Sunday through Monday.
Additionally, temperatures are predicted to range from 36 to 40 degrees Celsius in cities such as Meknes, Guelmim, Sidi Ifni, Essaouira, Mediouna, Nouacer, Rabat, Salé, Skhirat-Témara, El Jadida, Safi, Agadir-Ida Ou Tanane, Chtouka Ait Baha, Inzgan Ait Melloul, Tiznit, Benslimane, Berrechid, Casablanca, Mohammedia, Khenifra, and Larache during the same period.
For areas like Tan Tan, Oued Ed Dahab, Boujdour, Laayoune, and Tarfaya, temperatures are forecasted to be between 38 and 41 degrees Celsius based on the meteorological data provided.
Moreover, the report also warns of locally strong wind gusts, with speeds ranging from 75 to 85 kilometers per hour expected on Sunday, September 13, in the regions of Fahs Anjra and Tangier-Assilah, which have also been classified under an orange alert level.
