Significant Growth in Business Creation in Morocco
According to the Moroccan Office of Industrial and Commercial Property (OMPIC), a remarkable total of 60,908 new businesses were established in Morocco during the first seven months of 2026. This surge in entrepreneurship highlights a growing trend in the nation's economic landscape, revealing the increasing dynamism within the Moroccan business sector.
These newly formed entities comprise both corporate entities and sole proprietorships, with 45,898 registered as legal entities and 15,010 as individual businesses. The OMPIC's report emphasizes the prevalent legal structure chosen by entrepreneurs, noting that the Single Member Limited Liability Company (SARL AU) remains the most favored option, accounting for 65% of all registrations. Following this, the Limited Liability Company (SARL) represents a significant 33.9% of the total registrations.
Regional Insights and Sectoral Distribution
Geographically, the Casablanca-Settat region leads the way, concentrating 39.3% of the new corporate registrations. This is followed by the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region, which accounts for 14.5%, Marrakech-Safi with 12.3%, and Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceima at 10.8%. Together, these four regions make up an impressive 76.9% of all new legal entity registrations across the nation.
In terms of industry sectors, the newly established corporate entities predominantly operate within trade, representing 27.22% of the registrations. This is closely followed by the construction and real estate sectors at 25.28%, various services at 20.03%, transportation at 7.63%, and manufacturing at 6.3%. When it comes to individual businesses, the Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceima region takes the lead, with 20.6% of registrations, followed by Casablanca-Settat at 13.2% and Rabat-Salé-Kénitra at 10.7%.
Additionally, the OMPIC issued a total of 77,883 commercial names (negative certificates) between January and July 2026, further indicating the active entrepreneurial environment in the country. This robust business creation trend suggests a promising outlook for Morocco's economic future.
