Complete Evacuation of Ceuta's Trampolín Beach

On Monday, October 5, 2026, the Trampolín Beach in Ceuta was completely evacuated. Cleanup crews are currently working to remove the remnants of makeshift shelters, with a Spanish flag prominently waving over the area. This marks the second evacuation of the beach since July 30, but according to sources from the Ministry of Migration, this operation is intended to be the final one.

Since Sunday, over 1,200 migrants have been relocated from the improvised encampment along the coastline of the Autonomous City to the CATE (Temporary Care Center for Foreigners) located in the Tarajal warehouses. A significant number of these individuals have opted to return voluntarily to Morocco. Reports indicate that more than 1,000 migrants left after formally rescinding their asylum requests in Spain, a process that was witnessed by interpreters.

Despite the evacuation, there remains an undetermined number of individuals who continue to reside in the adjacent camp at the former Guano factory, where some migrants moved to avoid expulsion fears. The exact number of adult migrants still sleeping along the coast and in the hills surrounding the city remains unclear. Prior to the evacuation, it was reported that an average of 3,500 meals were distributed daily at Trampolín Beach by the Red Cross, suggesting that there could still be over 2,000 adults in precarious living conditions. Meanwhile, more than 7,000 adults are currently housed in temporary shelters established by the government.
