Major Drug Trafficking Bust in Casablanca Involves Pharmacist
In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, the police judicial authorities of Al Fida-Mers Sultan, in collaboration with the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), successfully dismantled a criminal network involved in the trafficking of psychotropic drugs. This operation, which took place recently, led to the arrest of a pharmacist and his assistant, who were caught red-handed supplying psychotropic pills to a dealer. As reported by the daily newspaper Assabah, the two individuals were found to be receiving financial commissions in return for their illicit activities.
The police operation, which was executed based on critical intelligence from the DGST, resulted in the apprehension of the suspects during a well-coordinated raid. Following their arrest, the pharmacist, his assistant, and the dealer were presented before the public prosecutor at the Aïn Sebaâ Court of First Instance, where they faced serious criminal charges, including possession and trafficking of psychotropic substances.
Search Yields Significant Evidence
During the investigation, police conducted a thorough search of the dealer’s premises, uncovering 25 medical prescriptions that were allegedly intended to facilitate the acquisition of these drugs. Furthermore, investigators seized a staggering total of 672 psychotropic pills across various categories, along with a collection of medical documents and the official register pertaining to the traceability of psychotropic medications.
Details from the investigation revealed that the pharmacist and his assistant confessed to receiving commissions ranging from 1,500 to 2,000 dirhams for their roles in the trafficking operation. The ongoing investigation, supervised by the competent public prosecutor in Casablanca, aims to uncover any further connections and ramifications of this criminal network.
