Plastikpack Maroc Invests 150 Million Dirhams in New Factory, Creating 200 Jobs

Plastikpack Maroc is set to embark on a transformative journey with an investment of 150 million dirhams (MAD), a project that promises to generate 200 direct jobs and represents a significant advancement in the company's industrial capabilities. This initiative not only enhances the operational potential of Plastikpack but also boosts the investment appeal of the Marrakech-Safi region, making it a focal point for productive investments.

The project entails the establishment of a production workshop spanning 3,000 square meters and a storage warehouse of approximately 7,000 square meters. It aims to transition the existing injection machine park to this new facility while simultaneously introducing new high-value production lines. This expansion will enable Plastikpack Maroc to diversify its product offerings beyond traditional crates used in the beverage, agriculture, and industrial sectors. Innovations such as fishing crates equipped with RFID technology for enhanced traceability, foldable crates for improved return logistics, and one-way plastic pallets intended for export are among the new solutions being developed. Additionally, a new production line for industrial caps will be introduced.

Initially, the new unit will be outfitted with eight injection presses ranging from 600 to 900 tons, which will be transported from the current site, complemented by a dedicated 2,200-ton press for producing plastic pallets. Ultimately, the industrial capacity is projected to include 13 injection presses of 600 to 900 tons and three presses exceeding 2,000 tons, with a long-term goal of achieving ultra-automation in production processes.

During the announcement, Mr. Mezzour emphasized that this project is pivotal for the national plastic packaging industry. He highlighted its potential to enhance the industrial sovereignty of the Kingdom and elevate this sector through the development of innovative packaging solutions that incorporate traceability, reuse, and logistical optimization. Furthermore, the minister remarked that this new investment reflects the confidence of industrial players in the potential of the Marrakech-Safi region and symbolizes the ongoing development trend within Morocco's manufacturing sector. This aligns with the Royal High Directions aimed at establishing a competitive national industry that generates quality jobs and adds significant value.

Kareem Daheur, the General Director of Plastikpack Maroc, stated that the new facility will empower the company to strengthen its production capabilities and broaden its offerings to meet the demands of various strategic sectors. He pointed out that the company specializes in manufacturing plastic packaging primarily for the agri-food sector, fishing, and producing plastic jerrycans and drums used in the chemical and petroleum industries. Today, Plastikpack counts several major national operators in these sectors among its key clients.

As a subsidiary of the French group SC-Pack, a European leader in plastic packaging, Plastikpack Maroc has been operational in Marrakech since 2015. The company operates an industrial site covering 53,000 square meters, with 11,000 square meters of covered space, and specializes in the production of plastic crates, as well as jerrycans and drums through blow-extrusion and injection molding, catering to strategic sectors such as food processing, fishing, agriculture, the chemical industry, and the petroleum sector.
