Investigation Launched Following $40 Million Jewelry Heist
The judicial police in the new Fes district, Dar Dbibgh, are diligently pursuing leads in a mysterious theft that targeted gold jewelry valued at over 40 million dirhams from a villa belonging to the father of a former minister. This shocking incident came to light when the sister of the former government official returned from vacation and reported the disappearance of gold items belonging to her and her deceased mother, which were stored inside the residence.
Initial examinations raised suspicions regarding the method of the theft, particularly since there were no signs of forced entry or burglary at the villa's entrances. This has led investigators to consider the possibility that the perpetrator may have had access to a matching key or possessed intimate knowledge of the property's layout. In response to these findings, the scientific and technical police have engaged in the investigation, collecting approximately a dozen fingerprints and material evidence from various locations within the villa.
The evidence will soon undergo analysis at the national laboratory for scientific police, where it will be compared to existing databases in an effort to identify the individuals involved, all under the oversight of the relevant public prosecutor's office. The investigation is ongoing as authorities seek to uncover the truth behind this high-profile case of theft.
