Police Officer's Quick Action Prevents Potential Harm in Agadir

On August 16, 2026, a police officer from the motorcycle brigade of the Agadir police prefecture had to resort to using his service weapon to apprehend a 24-year-old suspect known for previous offenses, including theft and vandalism. The situation escalated when the suspect, armed with a knife, posed a significant threat to both bystanders and police officers during the confrontation.

The incident began when the command and coordination center of the police prefecture received reports of three individuals targeting parked vehicles near the central market, committing theft and causing damage. Upon arrival, the motorcycle brigade attempted to subdue the trio. However, one of the suspects aggressively resisted, brandishing a knife, which put the officers’ safety in jeopardy. Faced with this imminent threat, the police inspector fired a warning shot before ultimately striking the suspect in the lower extremities, neutralizing the danger and facilitating his arrest. The knife used in the attack was confiscated, and the suspect was taken to a regional hospital under medical supervision.

Authorities are continuing their investigation to locate and apprehend the other individuals involved in this incident.
