PortCastelló Strengthens Mediterranean Expansion with Turkey and Morocco

PortCastelló's Impressive Growth in Trade

PortCastelló has successfully solidified its expansion in the Mediterranean region, with Turkey and Morocco emerging as the primary partners in terms of cargo volume handled at the Castellón port this year. The latest statistics reveal that trade traffic with Turkey has reached an impressive 327,581 tons, reflecting an 18.6% increase compared to the same period last year. Meanwhile, Morocco has experienced remarkable growth, witnessing a staggering 50% surge and totaling 303,844 tons of cargo.

Strategic Initiatives Driving Success

These outstanding results are a direct outcome of the commercial missions organized by the Port Authority of Castellón in these countries, aimed at strengthening relationships with shippers and logistics operators. The success of these initiatives has prompted the authority to announce a new commercial mission to Egypt, which has already established itself as the seventh largest trading partner of the port, showing a notable 20.5% increase in cargo traffic this year.

Rubén Ibáñez, the president of the Port Authority of Castellón, emphasized that these figures are not coincidental but rather the result of a clear commercial strategy. He noted that the impressive 50% growth with Morocco and Turkey's leading position demonstrate the effectiveness of their commercial missions, which create tangible opportunities for the local economy. With a keen eye on Egypt, a rapidly expanding market where they are already seeing over 20% growth, PortCastelló aims to continue diversifying its traffic and strengthen its role as a key economic driver for the province.

The dynamism of these international markets has significantly contributed to PortCastelló achieving its best February on record, with an exceptional 22.4% growth compared to the same month in the previous year, culminating in a total of 1.8 million tons for that month alone.
