The Third Edition of Morocco Gaming Expo Kicks Off Under Royal Patronage

On May 19, 2026, Prince Moulay El Hassan presided over the opening ceremony of the third edition of the Morocco Gaming Expo in Rabat, an event dedicated to the video game industry, eSports, and digital creative industries. Running from May 20 to May 24, this year's expo is themed "Moroccan Talent," aimed at showcasing the contributions of young creators, studios, startups, and professionals in Morocco who are actively involved in game development and related fields.

Under the high patronage of King Mohammed VI, the expo is organized by the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication, and is set to play a crucial role in structuring a national gaming ecosystem that is seen as a vital sector for qualified employment, investment, and innovation. The Prince toured the exhibition area, which features various components of the gaming industry, including public institutions, startups, financing operators, hardware manufacturers, telecom operators, training organizations, and cloud gaming solution providers.

This edition introduces new thematic spaces such as "MGE PlayTest" and "MGE Talks," which focus on promoting Moroccan expertise in video game development. At the Arena, dedicated to eSports tournaments, Prince Moulay El Hassan inaugurated the electronic football tournament, further emphasizing the importance of competitive gaming in the region.

Networking Opportunities and Forums to Propel the Gaming Industry Forward

The Morocco Gaming Expo 2026 also includes a B2B space designed for networking between studios, publishers, investors, and international sector players, fostering partnerships and business opportunities. The event features five thematic forums: the "Government Forum" focused on public policies and international partnerships, the "Business Forum" centered on innovation and economic opportunities, the "Game Safe Forum" addressing security and ethics, the "Game Engine Forum" dedicated to development technologies, and the "Game Dev Forum" aimed at creators, coders, and artists. Through panels, masterclasses, and workshops, the expo caters not only to professionals but also to students, entrepreneurs, families, and video game enthusiasts.

This edition of the expo comes at a significant time as the capital city has been designated by UNESCO as the World Book Capital for 2026, running from April 2026 to April 2027, thus highlighting Rabat's cultural and creative prominence. The Morocco Gaming Expo serves as a platform for growth and recognition of local talent within the rapidly evolving gaming landscape.
