In an event marked by grandeur and significance, Prince Moulay El Hassan, on the orders of King Mohammed VI, inaugurated the Tower Mohammed VI on Monday, April 13. This striking edifice, developed by O Capital Group and presided over by Othman Benjelloun, stands majestically at a height of 250 meters across 55 floors, making it a remarkable addition to the skyline of Rabat.
The Prince was given a comprehensive tour of the tower's various components, which included the main lobby, where presentations highlighted the structure and the artisanal Moroccan materials utilized in its construction. Notable areas explored included a conference room, a library, a model apartment, the luxurious Waldorf Astoria hotel, and an observatory located at the summit, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the twin cities of Rabat and Salé.
Designed as a mixed-use facility, the tower is equipped with 36 elevators, accommodating a luxurious hotel, office spaces, residential units, retail shops, restaurants, a conference center, and an observatory. The foundation, extending 60 meters deep, is engineered to withstand earthquakes and flooding, complemented by a harmonic damper system to mitigate wind-induced movements and seismic vibrations. The building's two facades—one featuring dynamic lighting and the other outfitted with photovoltaic panels—along with energy recovery systems and rainwater collection mechanisms, have earned the tower prestigious LEED Gold and HQE (High Environmental Quality) certifications.
This ambitious project is part of the broader initiative to develop the Bouregreg Valley, an integral component of the integrated development program titled "Rabat, City of Light, Morocco's Cultural Capital." Upon his arrival, Prince Moulay El Hassan was warmly welcomed by several dignitaries including Mohamed Yacoubi, the wali of the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region, and other key officials from local governance and the O Capital Group, as well as representatives from the Bouregreg Valley Development Agency.
