Princess Lalla Asmaa and First Lady of Kenya Support Cochlear Implant Patients
On September 15, 2026, Princess Lalla Asmaa, the president of the Lalla Asmaa Foundation, alongside Rachel Ruto, the First Lady of the Republic of Kenya and president of the "Voice of Children Foundation," visited the Mohammed VI International University Hospital in Rabat. This event was part of the fourth phase of the international program "United, We Hear Better" and the national campaign "We Hear."
The patients from Kenya who underwent cochlear implant surgeries are among a group of 100 children suffering from profound hearing loss. This initiative is part of the fourth phase of the "United, We Hear Better" program, which Princess Lalla Asmaa and Rachel Ruto launched in Nairobi on November 5, 2025. The program aims to provide cochlear implants to 70 children in Nairobi while hosting another 30 children in Morocco for the same procedure. The first ten children from this group have already commenced their medical journey in Morocco, following the same protocols as Moroccan patients.
This initiative aligns with the humanitarian vision of King Mohammed VI, which promotes effective and robust South-South cooperation. The fourth phase of the "United, We Hear Better" program allows young participants to explore the world of sound, communication, learning, and personal growth, in addition to fostering skill transfers.

In this collaborative effort led by the foundation under the supervision of Princess Lalla Asmaa, 100 Kenyan children suffering from hearing disabilities have benefited from Moroccan expertise in this field, adding to hundreds of children from 22 countries across Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America who have received similar support.
This model of cooperation reflects King Mohammed VI's commitment to sharing Morocco's expertise and experience with sister nations and is visible through the continuous engagement of Princess Lalla Asmaa, who personally oversees the foundation's programs, the patients it welcomes, and the partnerships it forges.
Simultaneously, the Lalla Asmaa Foundation continues to implement the national campaign “We Hear,” which is being rolled out in five cities: Rabat, Casablanca, Fez, Marrakech, and Oujda, across five healthcare institutions. This new national campaign has allowed over 1,050 Moroccan patients to receive free cochlear implants, surpassing the milestone of a thousand patients, with the program recently expanding to adults, including individuals aged 56 in Marrakech and 41 and 62 in Fez.
