Progress and Socialism Party Announces Female Candidates for Regional Electoral Lists

Announcement of Female Candidates for Electoral Circles

In a significant step towards enhancing women's representation in politics, the Progress and Socialism Party has unveiled the names of female candidates designated for its regional electoral lists across nine regions. This announcement was made following a meeting of the party's political bureau held on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, as part of the preparations for the upcoming legislative elections.

The party's statement highlighted that this decision followed the completion of its internal procedures, which included a thorough evaluation of candidacies and interviews conducted with the female candidates by the committee responsible for this matter. The results were subsequently presented to the political bureau for final approval.

According to the official statement, the party has endorsed Ahlam Jalal as the candidate for the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region, with Hanan Khalil representing the Eastern region and Zahra Barjioui for the Fez-Meknes region. Additionally, Soumia Mounsif has been selected for the Rabat-Salé-Kenitra region.

The party also confirmed the candidacies of Dalila Al-Oudi for the Casablanca-Settat region, Mariam Al-Kanouni for the Marrakech-Safi region, Fatima Adnan for the Drâa-Tafilalet region, and Khadija Al-Baz for the Souss-Massa region, alongside Rabia Al-Kabous for the Guelmim-Oued Noun region.

However, the political bureau decided to postpone the decision regarding the names of female candidates for the regional electoral lists in the Béni Mellal-Khénifra, Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra, and Dakhla-Oued Ed-Dahab regions to a later date.
