Progress and Socialism Party Unveils Candidates for Upcoming Legislative Elections

Progress and Socialism Party Announces Candidate List for September 2026 Elections

The Progress and Socialism Party made a significant announcement on Saturday regarding its candidate list for the legislative elections scheduled for September 23, 2026, across 80 local constituencies. The list prominently features familiar electoral figures the party has traditionally relied upon to secure parliamentary seats. However, it notably lacks any strong indication of the party's openness towards women and youth participation in the political arena.

Revealed during the eighth session of the party's central committee, the candidate list includes only six women and eight young individuals under the age of 35. This minimal representation raises concerns about the party's commitment to gender and generational inclusivity in its electoral strategy.

Among the notable candidates, Raho Helai returns to the party after previously running under the banner of the Authenticity and Modernity Party in the last elections, where he received endorsement for the Tiflet-Romani constituency. Additionally, former leader of the Socialist Union, Abdelhadi Khairat, has joined the party and secured endorsement to run in Settat.

In the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region, the party has nominated Dhaman Muzriyahi for the Tangier-Assila constituency, Idriss Lazaar for the Mdiq-Fnideq constituency, Zouhair Rokani for Tetouan, and Mohamed Bouadra for Chefchaouen. The list also includes Abderrahman Al-Bakhsh for the Wazzan constituency, along with Lamiaa Salah for Al-Hoceima.

In the eastern region, the candidates include Wafaa Tajji for the Oujda-Angad constituency, Mohamed Belkassem for Nador, and Adnan Oushan for Driouch. Other nominees are Fatima Zahra Al-Mahi for Berkan, Mohamed Mihit for Taourirt, Imhamed Filali for Jerf, and Hussein Ahles for Figuig-Bouarfa.

In the Fez-Meknes region, the party has chosen Ali Al-Qasb as the head of its list in Southern Fez, with other nominees including Mohamed Bakhtawi for Meknes and Mohamed Msaou for Ifrane. The party has also endorsed Badr Bensaada for Sefrou, Rashid Hamouni for Boulemane, and Abdullah Al-Idrissi Bouzaidi for Taounate-Tissa, alongside Ikram Al-Hanawi for Al-Qarya-Ghafsa and Ahmed Al-Abadi for Taza.

In the Rabat-Salé-Kenitra region, the party has nominated Rashid Sassi for Rabat-Muhit, and Arab Al-Hamari for the Skhirat-Témara constituency, along with Nour Eddine Harraq for Kenitra and Fouad Karim for Khmissat-Walmas. Raho Helai is also listed for Tiflet-Romani.

In the Beni Mellal-Khenifra region, the party has reaffirmed its confidence in Mariam Ouhsa for Beni Mellal, with Boubker Ikhn for Azilal, Hamza Naderi for Bzou and Ouaouizaght, and Alal Al-Basrawi for Khouribga.

Regarding the Casablanca-Settat region, the party has finalized nominations for Mohamed Benmoussa in Casablanca-Anfa, Mohamed Talal in Ain Chock, and Mustafa Al-Hisouni in Sidi Bernoussi, among others across various constituencies.

In the Marrakech-Safi region, the party's list includes Youssef Himi for Marrakech-Sidi Youssef Ben Ali, Ibrahim Babissi for Gueliz-Nakhil, and Abdenabi Chdid for Al-Manara, along with several other candidates across the region.

Finally, in the Draa-Tafilalet region, candidates include Said Aqdad for the province of Ouarzazate, Omar Ait Raho for Midelt, Muhammad Qasha for Tinghir, and Youssef Yassin for Zagora.

In the Souss-Massa region, the party has nominated Hassan Omraybat for Agadir Idawtan, Mohamed Zakrawi for Inzkan-Ait Melloul, and several others across the various constituencies.

Additionally, in the Guelmim-Oued Noun region, the party has put forward Hussein Atwil for Guelmim, Aba Sheikh Al-Niah for TanTan, and Karim Oboghrim for Sidi Ifni.
