Advancements in the Tessema Stadium Reconstruction Project
The construction of the new Tessema Stadium in Casablanca is making significant progress, with the recent announcement of a third public contract aimed at equipping this sports venue, which is currently undergoing extensive reconstruction following the complete demolition of the old stadium. This initiative is spearheaded by the National Agency for Public Equipment (ANEP), acting as the delegated project manager on behalf of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF). An international open tender has been launched for Lot No. 3 of the project, which focuses on the supply, installation, and commissioning of elevators and freight lifts for the future infrastructure.
According to the tender documents, the estimated cost for the work has been set at 17.916 million dirhams, inclusive of all taxes. Bidders are required to submit a provisional guarantee amounting to 200,000 dirhams. The contract stipulates a six-month execution period commencing from the notification of the service order that authorizes the commencement of the works. Moreover, a twelve-month warranty will be applicable, starting from the provisional acceptance of the installations, which will include comprehensive maintenance for the installed equipment.
Key Features and Specifications of the Future Stadium
This project forms part of the complete reconstruction of the Tessema Stadium, which occupies a land area of 6.62 hectares in the Ben M’Sik-Sidi Othmane district. The previous facility, deemed outdated and unable to meet contemporary demands, has been entirely razed to pave the way for a new-generation sports complex. The future stadium is designed to be partially covered and will have a seating capacity of 30,000. Intended as a multifunctional venue, it aims to comply with international standards for public reception, safety, and competition organization.
The technical specifications of the contract detail a highly developed vertical mobility system. The chosen elevators will operate at a speed of one meter per second and will be designed without a machine room on the roof. The plan includes the installation of two 'Royal' elevators with a capacity of 1,350 kilograms serving three levels, two 'VIP' elevators capable of carrying up to 1,000 kilograms across two levels, in addition to a 'VVIP' elevator with a capacity of 1,150 kilograms.
Additionally, several 1,150-kilogram elevators, each capable of transporting fifteen individuals, will be designated for various operational uses. These will be strategically distributed among areas allocated for security services, media, photographers, audiovisual broadcasting teams, officials, and players, serving between two and six floors based on their designated functions.
The project also includes the installation of three high-capacity electric freight lifts, each capable of supporting up to 2,000 kilograms or transporting up to 26 individuals. These lifts will connect multiple zones of the sports venue across a maximum of six levels.
Safety requirements play a crucial role in the specifications. All elevator cabins must be equipped with automatic evacuation systems that allow users to reach the nearest floor and open the doors in case of a power outage to prevent any user entrapment. Furthermore, the elevators will be integrated with the building's central technical management system and fire detection systems. In the event of an alert, they will automatically return to the ground floor and be disabled. Alarm systems and intercoms directly linked to the surveillance post will also be installed to ensure rapid intervention by security teams.
This third contract thus enhances the various technical components of the future Tessema Stadium, set to replace an aging infrastructure with a facility that meets international standards of sports engineering.
