Prominent Politician Bouchaib Bouzouf Joins Popular Movement Party Ahead of Upcoming Elections

According to exclusive sources reported by the newspaper "Al Omk", former President of the Casablanca Agriculture Chamber and current parliamentary deputy Bouchaib Bouzouf has decided to join the Popular Movement Party (Parti du Mouvement Populaire) in preparation for the upcoming legislative elections in the Tissa Taounate constituency, effectively leaving the National Rally of Independents (Rassemblement National des Indépendants).

These sources indicate that Bouzouf has recently begun gradual negotiations with the leadership of the Popular Movement Party, particularly following the announcement of candidates from the National Rally of Independents in the Taounate region. In recent days, Bouchaib Bouzouf met with the Secretary-General of the Popular Movement Party, Mohamed Ouzine, at the party's headquarters in Rabat to discuss arrangements for the upcoming electoral phase and how to manage this election cycle in the Tissa Taounate area.

This move is part of early electoral maneuvers taking place in several constituencies, especially within the Fez-Meknes region, where the Popular Movement Party aims to strengthen its ranks with parliamentary and elected figures who have a strong field presence. In this context, Mohamed Ouzine has endorsed Bilal Rabban to compete in the electoral race for the Al-Qarya Ghafsai constituency, following consultations between the party's leadership and the candidate, who is also the regional coordinator for the Popular Movement in Taounate.

Earlier, the leadership of the Popular Movement Party had finalized its list of candidates for the upcoming legislative elections in the city of Fez, endorsing parliamentarian Khalid Al-Ajli as the party's candidate for the southern Fez constituency after he left the National Rally of Independents. Additionally, parliamentarian Rime Chabat has been endorsed to compete in the northern Fez constituency.

Khalid Al-Ajli previously won a parliamentary seat during the last partial elections in the southern Fez constituency representing the National Rally of Independents, receiving 9,767 votes, compared to 3,854 votes for his closest competitor, following the disqualification of former parliamentarian Abdelkader Bouciri due to criminal charges against him.

Bouchaib Bouzouf is considered a prominent electoral figure in the Taounate region, having topped the results in the 2021 legislative elections for the Tissa Taounate constituency with over 39,000 votes. His potential move to the Popular Movement Party is seen as a significant step in the reorganization of political alliances and party positioning ahead of the upcoming legislative elections.
