Completion of the New Terminal at Rabat-Salé Airport
After an extensive construction period spanning over seven years, the new terminal at Rabat-Salé Airport is finally complete. According to reports from Hespress, which cites official sources, the construction of the new terminal has concluded, but a specific opening date has yet to be announced by the National Airports Office (ONDA). The project, which commenced with the laying of the foundation stone on December 19, 2018, was intended to encompass nearly 69,000 square meters and boost the airport's capacity by an additional four million passengers annually. Moreover, improvements to surrounding road and aviation infrastructure were also part of the overall development plan.
Future Prospects and Anticipation
The newly constructed terminal is expected to enhance the airport's capacity to process approximately five million travelers each year, addressing the previously inadequate facilities that struggled to keep up with the increasing number of flights to and from Rabat. It is equipped with modern systems for passenger check-in, baggage handling, security, and flow management, which are vital for ensuring a smooth travel experience.
Although the construction is officially complete, questions remain regarding when the new terminal will welcome its first travelers.
