Rabat to Conclude the 2026 Longines Global Champions Tour

The city of Rabat is gearing up to host the prestigious Longines Global Champions Tour (LGCT), marking the conclusion of its 2026 season. This event, which has been a hallmark in the equestrian world for two decades, will feature two crucial finals: the Global Champions League (GCL) final on Friday, October 30, followed by the Longines Global Champions Tour final just two days later.

From October 30 to November 1, 2026, Rabat will welcome equestrian enthusiasts to the Longines Global Champions Tour of Rabat, founded by Qatar’s Years of Culture. This ultimate gathering will determine the champions of both competitions for the 2026 season, solidifying Rabat's reputation as a vital stop on the international equestrian calendar.

This year's edition holds special significance as it celebrates 20 years since the tour's inception. Established in 2006 by former Olympic champion Jan Tops, the Longines Global Champions Tour was born from a vision to elevate show jumping to new international heights, uniting the world's best riders and horses while showcasing the sport in some of the most iconic locations globally.

Rabat made history in 2024 by becoming the first African city to host the LGCT, and it further established its international presence in 2025. Now, in its third consecutive year as host, Rabat offers a specially designed equestrian village situated on a 5.5-hectare site at the heart of the city, nestled between the iconic Hassan Tower, the Royal Theater of Rabat, and the Mohammed VI Tower. This remarkable setting combines the challenges of a high-level equestrian competition with the rich architectural and urban heritage of Morocco's capital.

Cultural Activities Complementing Equestrian Competitions

In conjunction with the competitions, the three-day event will feature a vibrant cultural program aimed at showcasing various expressions of heritage and artistic creation. Attendees can look forward to a thematic village, musical and artistic performances, as well as national and international equestrian shows that enrich the sporting agenda.

This cultural dimension aligns with the mission of Years of Culture, Qatar's cultural diplomacy initiative, which seeks to connect peoples and nations through shared cultural experiences. Its support for the Longines Global Champions Tour of Rabat is a testament to the shared equestrian heritage between Qatar and Morocco, fostering connections established during the Qatar-Morocco Cultural Year 2024.

After a season filled with global competition, the best teams and riders will gather in Rabat for the season's decisive events. The GCL final on October 30 will crown the season's champion team. Celebrating its tenth anniversary this year, the GCL has introduced a collective dimension to high-level show jumping by uniting riders from diverse nationalities under team colors for the season.

On November 1, the Longines Global Champions Tour final will determine the individual champion for 2026, based on performances throughout the season that will establish the final rankings of this competition grounded in consistency and excellence.

Following the finals in Rabat, teams will prepare for the GCL Super Cup, which will take place during the end-of-season playoffs in Riyadh.

The return of the LGCT to Rabat for a third consecutive year underscores Morocco's capacity to host premier international sporting events and meet the organizational demands of high-level equestrian competitions. This momentum is part of a deeply rooted equestrian tradition in Morocco's history and heritage. From Tbourida to various expressions of equestrian arts, the horse holds a unique place in the Kingdom's culture.

Moreover, Morocco annually hosts several prestigious international equestrian events, including the El Jadida Horse Show, the Dar Es-Salam Horse Week, and the Morocco Royal Tour. The commitment of national institutions and industry players, supported by the Royal Moroccan Federation of Equestrian Sports (FRMSE), has contributed to establishing a recognized expertise in organizing competitions that meet international standards.
