Rabat Unveils State-of-the-Art Security Command Center with 1,400 Surveillance Cameras

Rabat's Advanced Command and Coordination Center: A Leap into Modern Security

On July 13, 2026, the police prefecture of Morocco's capital, Rabat, inaugurated its extensively modernized command and coordination center, referred to as "Center 2.0." This cutting-edge facility is designed to streamline the management of external operations, enhance traffic monitoring, and expedite emergency call handling through digital integration. At the heart of this modernization initiative lies the incorporation of an urban video surveillance system, boasting over 1,400 high-resolution cameras that now provide real-time imagery to the control room.

The General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) has undertaken a comprehensive overhaul of the entire IT infrastructure, including communication and data transmission systems, to achieve these advancements. The objective is to consolidate emergency calls via the short dial number 19 and coordinate public space response units within a single, efficient system. This revamped emergency call center is equipped with a new platform capable of processing a large volume of simultaneous calls, ensuring that incoming reports are promptly recorded in a database and relayed to field units.

Moreover, the facility includes a dedicated data collection and storage center, which, according to security officials, is fortified with modern cybersecurity protocols. In anticipation of exceptional situations, a crisis management control room has been established, granting access to all police databases and mobile communication networks to facilitate rapid decision-making in emergencies. Originally launched in 2016 as part of the "Mobile Emergency Police" project, the coordination center in Rabat underwent this significant technological refresh after a decade of service, aligning its infrastructure with the latest technological standards. The upgraded center now serves as a model for modern security frameworks implemented by the DGSN across the nation.
