Rabat Celebrates a Successful Fan Zone During the 2026 World Cup
The city of Rabat has managed to create a vibrant and engaging atmosphere during the 2026 World Cup, particularly through its fan zone, which has emerged as a significant highlight of the tournament. Over the course of six evenings, this initiative drew more than 140,000 spectators to two key sporting venues in the capital. The fan zone not only featured live broadcasts of the matches but also included musical performances and immersive entertainment, transforming the experience into a festival of sports and culture.
Initially launched at the Moulay El Hassan Complex under the name "Rabat Live Arena," the fan zone accompanied the six matches played by the Moroccan national team, known as the Lions of the Atlas, against formidable opponents such as Brazil, Scotland, Haiti, the Netherlands, Canada, and France. Anticipating a large turnout for the final match against France, the organizers relocated the event to the Prince Moulay Abdellah Complex, which was temporarily renamed "Rabat Grand Arena" to accommodate the influx of fans and enhance security measures.
A Rich Program of Events
The fan zone was carefully designed to offer an immersive experience, featuring giant screens, enhanced sound systems, and a dazzling light show that synchronized with the broadcasts. Inspired by international standards at major events, the concept was developed and executed by the agency Webloo, aiming to turn each match into a spectacular outdoor show. Beyond the sporting events, the program prominently featured performances by various Moroccan artists, including El Grande Toto, Stormy, Manal, and many others, providing a festive atmosphere that blended sports with entertainment.
According to the organizers, the event attracted over 140,000 visitors across the two venues during the six nights. The fan zone also achieved significant online visibility, generating more than 250 million views across social media platforms, with over 200,000 mentions on the web and coverage by more than 100 national and international media outlets. This impressive turnout showcases not only the passion of Moroccan fans but also the successful execution of a well-planned event that celebrated both sports and culture in Rabat.
