National Security Takes Immediate Action Against Public Safety Threats
On Tuesday, Moroccan national security forces swiftly responded to two separate incidents that circulated on social media, resulting in the apprehension of three individuals in the cities of Safi and Marrakech. The suspects are believed to be involved in actions that threaten public security, including incitement to manufacture traditional firearms and participation in acts of violence and vandalism in public spaces.
In the first case, the regional police judicial service in Safi acted on precise information provided by the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance, leading to the arrest of an individual suspected of disseminating digital content that undermines public safety. This included incitement to manufacture and use a traditional firearm. The police's response was triggered by a video circulating on social media, which showed the suspect detailing the process of assembling a firearm using readily available scrap materials and demonstrating how to use it to launch dangerous projectiles. Investigations conducted under the supervision of the competent judiciary led to the identification and arrest of the suspect at his home in the "Jmâa Sihim" area, located on the outskirts of Safi.
The suspect is currently undergoing judicial investigation led by the police under the supervision of the appropriate public prosecutor's office, aimed at uncovering the true motives behind the dissemination of this content that endangers public safety.
Investigation into Violent Incidents in Marrakech
In Marrakech, local security responded to a video posted on social media that documented a group of individuals engaging in violence and stone-throwing in the streets, which resulted in damage to several private vehicles. Investigations revealed that this case is subject to legal proceedings currently being addressed by national security forces, following a complaint filed by one of the affected individuals on Tuesday morning. The subsequent inquiries allowed the identification of the suspects, leading to the arrest of two of them.
The detained individuals, aged 22 and 27, are currently under police custody as part of the judicial investigation overseen by the appropriate public prosecutor's office, aimed at uncovering all circumstances and backgrounds related to this case. Ongoing investigations continue to pursue additional participants and contributors to these criminal acts.
These two cases reflect the ongoing commitment of national security forces to promptly address content circulating on social media, whether related to actions that could undermine public safety or incidents of violence that disrupt public order.
