RB Leipzig Signs Talented Forward Marc Guiu

It is now official: RB Leipzig has successfully acquired Marc Guiu, the promising 20-year-old forward, marking him as the club's seventh signing this season. On Tuesday, Guiu signed a contract that will keep him at the club until 2031. According to reports from BILD, the Bundesliga team will pay Chelsea a transfer fee of 15 million euros, which also includes a significant sell-on clause for the English club regarding the player’s future transfers.

Marcel Schäfer, the sporting director of RB Leipzig, expressed his enthusiasm for the new signing, stating, "Marc fits perfectly with our RB DNA due to his intensity, high pace, and incredible willingness to engage. He brings tremendous energy, especially when defending, while also being a constant threat in the penalty area with a clear goal-scoring instinct. Despite being only 20 years old, he has already competed at the highest levels, including the Champions League."

A Long-Awaited Move for Guiu

Interestingly, Guiu was on the verge of joining Leipzig two years ago, as the club was already in advanced negotiations with the young talent. However, he ultimately chose to move from Barcelona to Chelsea, where he made just 29 appearances, scoring eight goals over two seasons. Now, Guiu feels that this transfer is the right step for his career, stating, "The management has shown a keen interest in me and presented a clear plan for the role I will fulfill here."

As RB Leipzig accelerates its transfer activities, it appears that they will be both welcoming two new players while allowing two to leave. Guiu is expected to replace Conrad Harder, who will be loaned to French club Strasbourg for one year without a purchase option. Schäfer noted, "For Conrad, this phase of development is crucial. He needs regular playing time and to accumulate as many minutes as possible at a high level."

In addition, RB Leipzig is close to finalizing the signing of Moroccan international Neil El Aynaoui, currently with AS Roma. The central midfielder is set to join on loan, with the club paying a loan fee of 4 million euros and securing a purchase option of 25 million euros. El Aynaoui made a significant impact during the World Cup, starting in all six matches for Morocco.
