Overview of Recent Activities and Incidents in Ulm

The latest updates from Ulm and its surroundings include a diverse range of events, community activities, and notable incidents that have recently taken place. Recently, during exit controls at Memmingen Airport for flights heading to Tangier, Skopje, and Tirana, border police apprehended six individuals who violated residency regulations. These individuals had overstayed their permitted residency period of 90 days within a 180-day timeframe. Among those caught were a 31-year-old Moroccan who overstayed by nine days, a 60-year-old Macedonian man, and a 49-year-old Macedonian woman who were found to be two days beyond their legal stay. Additionally, an 82-year-old and a 72-year-old Macedonian woman, along with a 43-year-old Albanian woman, were also found to have overstayed by one day. Consequently, legal proceedings were initiated against each of these individuals under the residency law. Following the necessary procedures, all were able to board their homeward flights to Morocco, North Macedonia, and Albania.

This week, border control officials at Memmingen Airport denied entry to a 40-year-old Albanian man who arrived on a flight from Tirana. During the entry interview, the man provided contradictory statements regarding his purpose and duration of stay in Germany, raising suspicions that he intended to work as a barber without the requisite visa or residency permit. As a result of these circumstances, the man was promptly returned to Albania on the next available flight.

Community Events and Highlights

In addition to these incidents, Ulm is bustling with various cultural activities and events. Notably, the Roxy Ulm is set to host the performance 'HADER ON ICE' featuring the renowned performer Josef Hader. The Fiddler's Green Irish Pub is also buzzing, with events including performances by the band Infamous Her and artist Vanja Sky. The city is gearing up for a commemorative event at the Market Square in Langenau to honor the 81st anniversary of Francis Bioret's passing.

Despite recent labor strikes, the Ulm Family Sunday event attracted large crowds, demonstrating the community's resilience and spirit. Additionally, local news reports have detailed several incidents, including a drug-related car accident involving a 23-year-old driver and a fire that caused significant damage to a local restaurant.

Moreover, there has been an alarming rise in criminal activities, including a knife attack on a bus driver, which has led to the arrest of a juvenile suspect. Furthermore, a robbery at a hair salon was reported, where the suspect, armed with a knife, is still at large. As the local public transport prepares for a strike on Monday and Tuesday, residents are urged to plan accordingly.

Lastly, Donau 3 FM, the regional broadcaster from Ulm, has received multiple nominations for the LFK Media Award 2026, highlighting the importance of local media in celebrating community achievements and events.
