Recent Rainfall in Morocco: A Blessing for Agriculture

According to the latest data from the General Directorate of Meteorology, the city of Taroudant has recorded the highest rainfall levels in the region, reaching 26 millimeters. Following closely is the Boulemane region, which documented 24 millimeters of rainfall. This indicates that the recent weather disturbances have significantly affected the Atlas Mountains and the surrounding plains. The rainfall has not been limited to the Souss region alone; it has extended to the eastern part of Morocco, where the city of Dabbou recorded 22 millimeters and the region of Chichaoua experienced 21 millimeters of precipitation.

In both the Middle and High Atlas regions, rainfall levels were equal in Khenifra and Midelt at 14 millimeters, while Beni Mellal recorded 11 millimeters. This influx of rain is crucial as it directly contributes to replenishing groundwater resources and nourishing the region's dams. In the Atlantic and central plains, rainfall varied, ranging from 9 millimeters in both Skhirat and Sidi Bennour, to 7 millimeters in the cities of Nouacer, Ifrane, and Benslimane.

Additionally, the regions of Azilal, Tit Mellil, and Agadir recorded 6 millimeters of rain, while vital urban areas such as Rabat, Salé, Meknes, Berrechid, Chefchaouen, and Beni Mellal saw slightly lower levels of 5 millimeters. The rainfall extended to several other areas with less intensity, with Azrou, Taza, Sidi Ifni, Settat, Nador, Mohammedia, and Bouarfa each registering 4 millimeters.

In Tiznit and Sidi Slimane, the recorded rainfall was 3 millimeters, whereas the cities of Oujda, Kenitra, Fes, and Casablanca experienced a modest 2 millimeters of precipitation. The report concluded with minor rainfall measurements of 1 millimeter in regions such as Tinghir, Oukaimeden, Driouch, and Azemmour.

This timely rainfall comes at a critical juncture in the agricultural season, significantly boosting optimism for improved grazing conditions and the growth of fall crops across various regions of the kingdom.
