Avenue 2 Mars Undergoes Major Revitalization in Casablanca
The Avenue 2 Mars, one of the key thoroughfares in Casablanca, is nearing the completion of an extensive renovation project that promises to enhance its aesthetic and functional appeal. This ambitious initiative, which has been executed over a span of the past few months, has involved an investment of approximately 18 million dirhams. The project aims to modernize the street infrastructure, including the road surface, sidewalks, green spaces, and public lighting, thereby providing a fresh look to this vital artery of the city.
As reported by Mohamed Touimi Benjelloun, the president of the Mers Sultan district council, the revitalization work is now in its final stages. "Avenue 2 Mars is one of the most significant streets in Casablanca. As you can see today, major construction efforts are coming to a close. They have been conducted day and night, and we are finally witnessing a new face of this avenue," he remarked. Only minor finishing touches remain, according to the district leader.
The Avenue 2 Mars stretches from the Europe Roundabout to Avenue Hachouma, at the entrance to the Californie neighborhood and the urban highway. However, the renovation efforts have focused on a specific section of this road, extending from the same roundabout to the intersection with Boulevard Anoual. This comprehensive project has encompassed all aspects of the roadway infrastructure, including a complete overhaul of the drainage system.
"We are witnessing a true transformation today, affecting the roadway, sidewalks, green spaces, and public lighting," Benjelloun elaborated, emphasizing the improvements made to the urban environment. The overall goal of this redevelopment is to prepare the region for future events and developments that will take place in Morocco, ensuring that Casablanca continues to play a pivotal role as a driving force in the national economy. The changes are expected to not only enhance the visual appeal of the area but also to improve the quality of life for residents and visitors alike.
