Smart Patrol Vehicles Take to the Streets of Rabat
This week, Morocco's General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) has officially commenced the operational deployment of its intelligent patrol vehicles, Aman and Madar, on the streets of Rabat. This initial phase marks the beginning of a broader initiative that will see these sophisticated vehicles introduced to major cities such as Casablanca and Tangier in the coming days. The ultimate goal is to gradually expand their presence throughout all significant urban centers and security divisions within the Kingdom.
This initiative aligns with the DGSN's strategic vision to modernize the security vehicle fleet and enhance the services provided to citizens, as highlighted in a recent DGSN statement. The Aman smart patrol vehicle represents a remarkable innovation, fully developed through the technical and engineering expertise of the DGSN. It is outfitted with an integrated visual surveillance system featuring 360-degree cameras that are connected in real-time to automatic license plate recognition applications and advanced facial recognition technology. This state-of-the-art system employs advanced artificial intelligence models, allowing for real-time visual verification during public area patrols.
The Aman vehicle is directly linked to command and control centers as well as ground units via a large display screen illuminating its interior. This connectivity plays a crucial role in traffic management, patrolling, and crime prevention efforts.
Advanced Surveillance Capabilities with Madar
Simultaneously, the Madar patrol vehicle has been launched as a mobile intelligent surveillance platform. Utilizing the same artificial intelligence algorithms, Madar transforms ordinary vehicles into high-tech security units. This platform is equipped with 3D-printed emergency lighting systems that incorporate high-resolution cameras, capable of accurately capturing the movements of rapidly circulating vehicles across six lanes of traffic simultaneously.
Additionally, it features a central panoramic camera that can perform a complete rotation in under three seconds to cover all blind spots, along with a powerful integrated lighting signal system, discreetly hidden behind the windshield and within the bumper for optimal visibility during interventions. These intelligent patrol vehicles sport a modern and distinctive visual identity, making them easily recognizable on the roads. Furthermore, a geolocation system and direct access to a central database through an integrated pointing device enhance their visibility in urban environments.
The rollout of this modern technology comes after the completion of initial development processes, field testing, and training for police teams operating these intelligent vehicles. The aim is to bolster the capability of security forces to provide integrated services that combine cutting-edge technology with community policing, especially as the Kingdom prepares to host major global events, including the 2030 World Cup in partnership with Spain and Portugal.
