Royal Air Maroc Anticipates 7.5 Million Passengers in 2025, Expanding African Routes

Royal Air Maroc's Growth Trajectory and Economic Impact

Royal Air Maroc (RAM), Morocco's esteemed national airline, is poised to significantly enhance its operations in the coming years. Following a tumultuous period of disruption during the health crisis, the airline has successfully rebounded, projecting a remarkable increase from 7.2 million passengers in 2024 to an anticipated 7.5 million in 2025. This growth trajectory is further supported by an impressive revenue forecast nearing 20 billion dirhams. Positioned at its Casablanca hub, RAM is strategically reinforcing its status as a vital connector between Africa, Europe, and the Americas, thereby enhancing Morocco's economic landscape.

Ilham Kassimi, the Commercial Division Director of Royal Air Maroc, emphasizes the airline's pivotal role in facilitating travel across the continent. With connections to approximately thirty capitals and cities throughout Africa, passengers can now benefit from a diverse array of travel options. The airline offers daily flights to most destinations, with some routes featuring up to 14 flights per week. This flexibility not only serves as a bridge between Morocco and other African nations but also promotes intra-African travel, thereby enriching the continent's interconnectedness.

Ambitious Expansion Plans and Infrastructure Development

Royal Air Maroc is committed to expanding its reach across the African continent, currently operating direct flights to 29 African cities, which underlines its leadership in this sector. The airline’s ambitious expansion strategy includes plans to increase its fleet to 200 aircraft by the year 2037. This growth initiative will bolster long-haul routes and enhance South-South connectivity, aligning with Morocco's broader infrastructural developments, particularly in light of the upcoming 2030 FIFA World Cup. The event is expected to drive significant investments and catalyze growth within the Kingdom.

In addition to enhancing travel options, Royal Air Maroc plays a crucial role in revitalizing tourism in Morocco, facilitating business travel, and boosting the country's economic attractiveness. By modernizing airport infrastructure and connecting major cities across West, Central, and East Africa, the airline is fostering economic integration and promoting intra-African trade. Through its strategic vision and commercial performance, Royal Air Maroc is not only strengthening Casablanca's position as a major African hub but is also actively contributing to the continent's economic development.
