Royal Air Maroc Achieves Significant Fleet Milestone
On September 26, Royal Air Maroc (RAM) reached a significant milestone by adding its 70th aircraft to its fleet, a new Boeing 737 MAX 8 designated as CN-RHS. This addition marks a pivotal moment for the national airline, which is poised to welcome its 71st aircraft shortly after, with its arrival in Morocco scheduled for the early hours of October 1. This expansion reflects RAM's aggressive growth strategy, as the airline's fleet has surged from 50 aircraft in 2021 to 70 today, representing a remarkable 40% increase in just five years.
Strategic Growth and Future Plans
This fleet enhancement is a key component of RAM's ongoing development program, which aims to integrate an average of 10 to 15 new aircraft annually. The airline has set ambitious targets, with plans to expand its fleet to 74 aircraft by the end of 2026 and to 88 by 2027. Looking further ahead, RAM aims to reach a total of 200 aircraft by 2037 as per the strategic agreement signed with the government in July 2023.
The expansion of RAM's fleet is designed to facilitate the growth of its international network and to reinforce Casablanca's position as a major air transport hub. The airline's strategy includes plans to increase its international destinations to 143 and to transport approximately 31.6 million passengers by 2037. Furthermore, while awaiting the first deliveries from a major order expected to begin in 2028, RAM continues to enhance its fleet through acquisitions and leasing operations.
