Royal Air Maroc Expands Its Network with New Direct Flights
Royal Air Maroc, the national airline of Morocco, has officially launched its new direct route connecting Bilbao to Casablanca. This service will operate three times a week, specifically on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. The inaugural flight took off last Wednesday, marking a significant milestone in the airline's ongoing expansion in the Spanish market, where it has maintained a presence for over 50 years.
This new route is a vital addition to Royal Air Maroc’s extensive network in Spain. The airline currently operates from nine airports across the country and offers connections to five Moroccan cities, facilitating over 80 weekly flights to various Spanish destinations. Passengers traveling from Bilbao can now access a broad international network through the Casablanca hub, which includes destinations across Africa, the Americas, and the Middle East, as highlighted by the airline in an official statement.
Furthermore, the airline emphasized that launching this new route will invigorate international traffic at Bilbao Airport and strengthen economic, tourism, and cultural exchanges between the Basque Country and Morocco. This initiative responds to the increasing demand from leisure and business travelers, as well as the Moroccan diaspora. The inauguration of this route aligns with Royal Air Maroc’s strategic plan for international expansion, aimed at solidifying its position as a global airline and enhancing its Casablanca hub, especially in anticipation of the 2030 World Cup, which will take place across Morocco, Spain, and Portugal.
As a member of the oneworld alliance, Royal Air Maroc provides access to a comprehensive network of over 900 destinations in 170 countries. This membership facilitates the airline's integration into a structured cooperation ecosystem that promotes the exchange of best practices and digital innovation, ensuring the continuous modernization of its services. Additionally, the airline has entered into several code-sharing agreements with other carriers to further improve connections between Morocco and numerous countries worldwide.
