Strengthening Collaboration Between Royal Air Maroc and Boeing

On Thursday, a partnership agreement was signed between Royal Air Maroc (RAM) and the American aerospace manufacturer Boeing, during the eighth edition of the Marrakech International Air Show held at the Royal Armed Forces airbase from October 7 to 10. This agreement, signed by Fahd Al-Mahiri, Boeing's regional president for North Africa and the Middle East, and Nawal Ait Hamou, director of flight operations at Royal Air Maroc, concerns the refurbishment of the cabins of seven Boeing 787-8 aircraft that the national carrier acquired between 2015 and 2018.

The primary objective of this initiative is to upgrade the interior cabins of these aircraft, thereby enhancing the travel conditions on board while simultaneously aligning them with the high comfort standards characteristic of long-haul aircraft that have recently joined the airline's fleet. These seven aircraft are part of Royal Air Maroc's long-haul fleet, which includes six additional Boeing 787-9 planes. This fleet facilitates long-distance routes connecting the airline's hub in Casablanca with major global cities, particularly in North America, such as Los Angeles and New York, as well as in South America (São Paulo) and Asia (Beijing).

Elevating Passenger Experience and Future Expansion Plans

The Boeing 787-8 aircraft accommodates 274 passengers, while the Boeing 787-9 offers greater capacity, exceeding 300 seats. The airline boasts a total of 12 long-haul aircraft within its fleet. In a statement to the press, Ait Hamou emphasized that the cabin development program aims to elevate the customer experience to match the standards of the recently acquired or soon-to-be-acquired aircraft. She noted that the national carrier has strengthened its fleet as part of a development plan that includes 71 aircraft—a historic record for the airline—indicating that by the end of 2026, the fleet will comprise 73 aircraft.

Ait Hamou further mentioned that Royal Air Maroc has a strategic plan aimed at 2037, which will bolster the national carrier's fleet to 200 modern aircraft featuring high-quality cabins. In a similar statement, Al-Mahiri highlighted the longstanding partnership between Boeing and Royal Air Maroc, which has lasted over 70 years, showcasing the national carrier's satisfaction with the American manufacturer's aircraft. He noted that Boeing plans to initiate the cabin refurbishment of Royal Air Maroc's aircraft as part of the preparations for the upcoming World Cup, emphasizing the goal of providing a suitable travel experience for the airline's customers.

Furthermore, he expressed Boeing's commitment to continue its collaboration with Royal Air Maroc in the coming years, underscoring the robustness and sustainability of the partnership between the two companies. He also conveyed Boeing's enthusiasm for participating as an exhibitor at the eighth edition of the Marrakech International Air Show. Through this agreement, Royal Air Maroc aims to further enhance the travel experience on its fleet and keep pace with the evolving needs of travelers, especially as Morocco prepares to host the 2030 World Cup.
