Royal Air Maroc Suspends Eleven International Routes Amid Rising Fuel Costs

Casablanca – Royal Air Maroc (RAM), the national airline of Morocco, has announced significant adjustments to its international flight schedule in response to soaring fuel prices and a decline in passenger demand on specific routes. In an official press release, the airline confirmed that it would temporarily suspend a total of eleven flight connections.

The suspensions will impact destinations across both West and Central Africa, as well as various cities in Europe. Flights from Casablanca to Bangui, Brazzaville, Kinshasa, Yaoundé, and Libreville will be halted for the time being.

Additionally, routes from Tangier and Marrakech to several European cities will also be affected. The specific routes impacted include several popular connections, although the airline has not detailed all the affected services.

Royal Air Maroc attributed its decision primarily to the current global energy market conditions. The significant spike in fuel prices, largely considered a direct consequence of geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, has dramatically increased operational costs for the airline. They noted that many airlines worldwide are being forced to revise their flight schedules and capacities due to these pressures. Furthermore, the slowdown in demand on the now-suspended routes necessitated this decision to maintain operational profitability.

The airline has committed to taking all necessary measures to support customers affected by the cancellations and to minimize inconvenience. Travelers who have booked tickets for the suspended flights will be informed and assisted accordingly.

At this stage, it remains unclear when the suspended routes will resume normal operations. The airline emphasized that it is closely monitoring the international situation and is working to gradually reinstate these routes into its flight schedule as soon as operational and economic conditions permit.
