Sami Lahssaini's Future in Question as He Eyes Moroccan Giants

Sami Lahssaini, who has been a vital part of RAAL La Louvière for the past two seasons, now faces uncertainty regarding his role in the upcoming season. His path may lead him back to Morocco, the land of his heritage. Last winter, the prospect of Lahssaini's departure was already on the table when Al-Okhdood, a Saudi club, made a formal bid for his services, proposing a paid loan deal complete with a mandatory purchase option valued at €300,000. However, the 27-year-old Belgo-Moroccan ultimately decided to remain in Hainaut, where RAAL La Louvière exercised their option to extend his contract, likely to avoid losing him without compensation. This summer, with increased competition in the midfield of the 'Wolves', Lahssaini caught the attention of Stijn Stijnen's Patro Eisden. Yet his true interest in returning to the second tier of Belgian football remains unclear, especially considering his previous experiences with Seraing and RAAL, along with his debut in the elite of Belgian football last season, where he participated in 32 matches, scoring once and providing two assists.

The Raja: A Premier Club in African Football

Recent reports by Sacha Tavolieri suggest that Lahssaini could soon be making the transition to Raja Casablanca, a prestigious club that commands a significant presence in African football. The Moroccan giants, who have secured the national championship title thirteen times and triumphed in the African Champions League on three occasions (1989, 1997, and 1999), are currently in talks with Lahssaini's representatives to explore the possibility of his arrival in Botola Pro. The club last clinched the national title in 2024 and is eager to reclaim its dominance in the upcoming season. Should Lahssaini join, he would reunite with fellow Belgo-Moroccan players Amine Khammas and Sabir Bougrine, both of whom have experience playing in Belgium's Pro League. Khammas, a left-back, joined Raja in 2026 after stints at Lierse and Genk, while Bougrine, who began his career at Lierse, has played across various leagues in France, Luxembourg, Azerbaijan, and Tunisia before settling in at Raja in 2023.
