Santiago Airport Introduces Direct Flights to Marrakech

In an exciting development for travelers, Santiago Airport has officially launched a direct flight connection to Marrakech, Morocco, with round-trip tickets available starting at just €60. The inaugural flight, designated VY1131, landed at the Santiago airport at 14:49 on Friday, marking the beginning of regular operations that aim to enhance both tourism and commercial ties between Northwest Spain and Morocco. This new route is operated by Vueling, a member of the International Airlines Group, which is expanding its international offerings from Galicia.

Initially, the Santiago to Marrakech route will operate twice a week, specifically on Wednesdays and Saturdays. However, during the summer season, the schedule will adapt to meet increased demand, with flights being offered on Wednesdays and Sundays. Vueling has already made tickets available for purchase, allowing travelers to book their journey from Lavacolla starting on April 11th, with a return date of April 18th.

Expanding Flight Options from Santiago

This new Marrakech route is part of a broader strategy by Vueling to enhance its flight offerings from Santiago for the summer season. In addition to Marrakech, the airline will also introduce direct connections to Ibiza and Jerez de la Frontera, while reinforcing its existing link to Zurich for the first time. On the international front, Vueling will continue its flights to Paris (Orly) and will add new routes to Amsterdam and London, operating from both Gatwick and Heathrow airports.

Domestically, the network will see improvements with new routes connecting Santiago to popular destinations such as Málaga, Sevilla, Barcelona, and Bilbao, as well as several tourist hotspots in the Canary Islands and Balearic Islands, including Lanzarote, Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, and Palma de Mallorca. Through these expansions, Vueling emphasizes its commitment to strengthening its presence at Santiago Airport and enhancing connectivity for both tourists and business travelers alike.
