Saqr Ghobash Heads UAE Delegation at the Fourth Marrakech Parliamentary Forum
On June 19-20, 2026, Saqr Ghobash, the President of the UAE National Council, is leading the UAE's delegation at the Fourth Marrakech Parliamentary Forum. This significant event, held under the auspices of His Majesty King Mohammed VI of Morocco, will take place at the Palais des Congrès in Marrakech. The forum is organized in partnership with the Parliamentary Network of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund, aiming to strengthen parliamentary dialogue on economic and developmental issues of mutual concern.
The UAE delegation includes notable members such as Saeed Al-Abadi, Aisha Laytim, Dr. Ahmed Al-Mansoori, Salem Al-Amri, Hashima Al-Afari, Sultan Al-Zaabi, and Tarek Al-Marzouqi, who serves as the Assistant Secretary-General for Council Affairs. Throughout the forum, discussions will focus on enhancing economic and trade integration among the Euro-Mediterranean and Gulf nations, as well as exploring avenues for collaboration with the African continent.
The forum will commence with a high-level opening session that features parliamentary leaders and regional and international parliamentary unions, along with various ministers, officials, experts, and representatives from international financial institutions. The agenda includes several sessions addressing global challenges in economic integration, free trade, public debt, investment stimulation in artificial intelligence, and the establishment of a Euro-Mediterranean and Gulf hub for artificial intelligence. Furthermore, a special session will be dedicated to Africa, discussing the African Continental Free Trade Area and linking Euro-African value chains towards a cohesive space for joint production, investment, and economic resilience.
Additionally, the forum will discuss the creation of job opportunities through the blue economy, the role of small and medium enterprises and startups as drivers for innovation and youth employment, and strategies to mitigate the impacts of climate change on food security. There will also be several agreements and memorandums of understanding signed, notably a memorandum between the Moroccan House of Councillors and the Parliament of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), as well as a memorandum between the Association of African Senates and the Mediterranean Parliament aimed at enhancing Euro-Mediterranean-African parliamentary cooperation.
