The residents of the Sâada community, located on the outskirts of Marrakech, have reiterated their demand for the establishment of local sports fields within various neighborhoods of the area. This call comes in light of the significant lack of sports infrastructure and the growing needs of the youth and children for designated spaces to engage in sporting activities.
In this regard, the "Al-Wafa Sports Association of Sâada" has sent an official letter to the community's president, seeking clarifications regarding the status of these sports fields in several local neighborhoods, the progress of their construction, and the financial allocations designated for them in the upcoming 2026 budget.
According to the document dated March 17, the association inquired about the current status of these projects, specifically regarding the advancements in their development, the financial resources allocated to them, and the expected timelines for their execution. Furthermore, the association urged clarification on whether the community has a partnership plan with local stakeholders, such as sports associations, to support and monitor these projects, ensuring their sustainability and fulfillment of intended objectives.
The letter emphasized that this inquiry arises amidst increasing complaints from residents regarding the absence of local sports fields, an issue that adversely affects youth and children, leading them to engage in activities on the streets, which poses potential risks.
Additionally, the association requested a detailed written response within ten days of receipt, alongside a proposal to organize a communication meeting at the Sâada youth center to discuss this matter. They underscored the necessity of opening dialogue channels with various stakeholders to find realistic solutions that meet the community's aspirations.
In related news, Mohamed Ben Abdessalam, a member of the "Al-Wafa Sports Association of Sâada," stated in an interview with the "Al-Omq" newspaper that the association has yet to receive any response regarding the letter addressed to the president of the Sâada community, despite approximately 24 days passing without any official feedback on the matter. He urged the responsible authorities to seriously address this issue and expedite the disclosure of the status of the local sports field projects, asserting that providing adequate sports spaces is no longer a choice but an urgent necessity that aligns with the community's expectations, especially for the youth.
