Search Intensifies for Two Missing Frenchmen Off the Coast of Morocco

For the past four days, two French nationals have been reported missing off the coast of Morocco after abandoning their catamaran due to a significant leak. The catamaran and a life raft were discovered empty, approximately five kilometers from the shore. Efforts are ongoing to locate the missing dinghy that the crew may have used to escape.

The missing individuals are Vincent Donzé, a 25-year-old surf enthusiast, and a professional sailor, who have been unaccounted for since the night of Sunday, May 24, near Tangier, in northern Morocco. The duo was transporting the catamaran, named Stella, from Martinique to a European port, either Marseille or Barcelona.

According to the Moroccan National Maritime Coordination and Rescue Center, an alert was received around 2:15 AM (3:15 AM French time) indicating that the Stella was experiencing difficulties. Adrien Danzé, the father of one of the missing men, reported that a message was sent at 3:15 AM signaling the leak, followed by another at 4:00 AM stating that the crew was abandoning the vessel for the dinghy. The search operations are now primarily focused on finding this dinghy.

The catamaran, which remained afloat, has been towed to the port of Asilah, located about forty kilometers south of Tangier. Both aerial and maritime resources have been deployed in an effort to locate the two missing individuals.
