Major Drug Bust at Ceuta Border
On Saturday, March 7, 2026, customs officials, in coordination with local police at the Ceuta border crossing, successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle a significant quantity of hashish totaling 69.8 kilograms, intended for export overseas. The operation took place during routine vehicle exit checks at approximately 8 AM, where a thorough inspection of a Fiat Doblo, bearing Moroccan registration, led to the discovery of the hidden narcotics.
The drugs were cleverly concealed within the vehicle, with some stashed in the roof and others located in the rear interior sides. Additionally, a specially constructed wooden compartment was found beneath the vehicle, meticulously designed to hide the seized quantity. This intricate method of concealment underscores the lengths to which traffickers will go to evade authorities.
Authorities detained the driver, a Moroccan national, who was subsequently handed over to the judicial police in Tetouan for further investigation. This investigation, overseen by the relevant public prosecutor's office, aims to uncover the details surrounding the operation and identify any potential networks involved in this illicit trade.
This seizure is part of ongoing efforts by Moroccan authorities to combat drug trafficking and maintain border security. The proactive measures taken at border crossings highlight the importance of vigilance in preventing the flow of illegal substances and protecting public health.
