Seizure of Over 240 Kilograms of Processed Cannabis from Morocco

Major Drug Seizure in Algeria

In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, the National Police in Khenchela, Algeria, successfully thwarted a criminal operation aimed at smuggling a considerable amount of processed cannabis. This operation, which took place earlier this week, resulted in the confiscation of 2 quintals and 42 kilograms of cannabis, alongside the arrest of three individuals connected to an organized crime network with international links.

According to a statement released by the police today, the operation unfolded in two phases. The operational teams of the Khenchela Police managed to seize 131 kilograms of processed cannabis concealed within a utility vehicle in the region. Two suspects with prior criminal records were apprehended during this phase, highlighting the serious nature of their involvement in illegal drug activities.

Further investigations led the authorities to identify a third suspect, who was located and arrested in the city of Constantine. During this arrest, the police recovered an additional 111 kilograms of processed cannabis, also hidden within a second utility vehicle. The seized cannabis was reported to have originated from Morocco, underscoring the cross-border nature of the drug trade.

The arrested suspects have been presented to the Public Prosecutor at the Khenchela Court, facing serious charges related to drug trafficking and organized crime. This successful operation reflects the ongoing efforts of Algerian law enforcement to combat drug-related crimes and protect the community from the dangers associated with illicit drug trafficking.
